Residents and Business Firms in West Sussex Being Urged To register for Improved Broadband Network

Friday, February 10th 2012

Residents and business enterprises across the West Sussex county have been encouraged to sign up to show their backing for better and enhanced broadband facilities in the county. Councillor Lionel Barnard, The deputy Leader of the County Council who is in charge of Enterprise stated that the council had promised 6.26 million pounds that will match the funding provided by the government to enhance broadband network services in the county. He said that if the county was to avail of the complete advantages of the said amount and if they were to provide broadband initially to the people and business that require it most urgently, they have to get a lucid idea of the need for broadband throughout West Sussex. He also said that by signing up to express their support, the people living in the county would be doing their role in revealing where the demand for broadband actually is.

Business firms and people living in the county could register through the West Sussex – Better connected website at www.westsussex-betterconnected.org.uk or they could physically fill up and present a registration form that could be had from the local library or help point.

Signing up to express support for faster broadband facilities will aid in revealing the levels of requirement that are needed in the towns when plans for broadband enhancement ventures are underway. This sign up will in no way make the residents committed to register for any new services that may be provided later.

Councillor Barnard stated that the main objective of this new venture was to make certain that enhanced broadband facilities would be made available to all people and businesses in the county. He added that it was essential for their local economy and trades.
