The names of places in Hull and East Yorkshire which will have the benefit of 100 Mbps fiber optic broadband have been revealed. KC, the internet service provider (ISP), informed that about 15, 000 households and business communities in East Hull, West Hull, north of Hull and many villages in East Yorkshire will be benefited by its fiber to the premises (FTTP) services. The cable will run straight to the homes and businesses delivering a speed of 100 Mbps. Kevin Walsh of KC is determined to provide the subjects with the best connectivity, which will ensure them access to all round information, communication facilities and entertainment at super fast speeds. In other parts of the country, KC will be concentrating on fiber-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) Service, which will provide a download speed of 40 Mbps. BT proposes to increase this speed to 80 Mbps before the end of the year. Incidentally, BT has no project in Hull. Depending upon the speed, KC charges GBP 25 to GBP 100 per month for the service. The ISP informed that fiber broadband service will be made available to 5,000 homes and businesses in East Riding in Yorkshire and double that in Hull by the year end. Installation will commence on 6th February in Grovehill of Beverley, followed by other places including Lincoln Way, Grange Way, Lockwood Road, Butt Lane etc. Based on the survey, a few more sites including the following will also be catered: Parts of West Hull around Pickering Park. Kingswood in the north of Hull. Skidby in East Yorkshire.
