North Yorkshire to enjoy faster broadband
North Yorkshire will be benefited by the Rural Growth Networks initiative of the government. An amount of GBP 15 million has been allotted for the purpose.
Richard Benyon, the Minister for Rural Affairs is pleased that the good measure will give a boost to the economy of the rural and isolated communities.
The Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has also welcomed the government’s initiative. The rural areas will be provided with super fast broadband and communication facilities. It is a good opportunity to grow.
Applications have to be submitted before 31st of January 2012. The names of six successful bidders will be announced in March.
DEFRA informed that the location of the ‘enterprise hubs’ will be finalized soon and
10 to 20 micro enterprises will be installed at each of these hubs.
Julian smith, the Conservative MP remarked that faster broadband will eliminate the digital divide between the urban and rural communities. New businesses will emerge in North Yorkshire. He has been demanding for super-fast broadband for the areas for the last few months and is now pleased about the development.
He also remarked that, the MPs, County Councils and public leaders have to work together to make the project successful. Local funding and investments from the private sector will be of great use for fruitful implementation of the project.
