Next Generation Broadband Public Cost revealed
A recently carried out research has revealed that for enabling the majority of UK broadband customers has superfast broadband internet access, an annual funding of between GBP 130 million and GBP 170 million was required.
The relevant research wwas carried out by the popular survey agency Point Topic. The study indicated the subsidising of the nation's internet infrastructure development by the government was required if it wished to fulfill its promise of improving service levels.
Furthermore, with those consumers based in the rural areas of the country demanding greater public support levels for joining the digital revolution, the required funding would vary across the six hundred fifty parliamentary constituencies of the United Kingdom.
According to a popular broadband comparison website ISPReview, the 50p monthly broadband tax proposed by Labour government could recoup for the Treasury around GBP 175 million, which was enough to pay for the upgrades required in case the prediction of Point Topic turned out as accurate.
Nonethless, the proposals put forward by the Conservative Party to utilise the TV license payer money would realise a figure much closer to the target figure of GBP 130 million gleaned by the state for funding next generation broadband rollout across the country.
