MP Asserts that EU shows partiality to Fibre Broadband

As per one of the Members of Parliament, the European Commission seems to be more in favour of the developments that are happening in fibre broadband.

According to reports from ISPreview.co.uk, the Member of Parliament for Newcastle Central and the Shadow Minister for Innovation and Digital Infrastructure of Labour, Ms. Chi Onwurah claimed that the European Union has altered the rules of its state aid to concentrate more on the 100Mb fibre network systems.

While talking at the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Summit, the lady stated that the rule meant that fibre was given priority over other existing or prospectively planned new-generation technologies.

This meant that it would be rather difficult in the long run to avail of finances from the government for wire-free or mobile broadband network systems.

Ms Chi Onwurah declared that the European Commission had always had a soft corner for fibre network systems and it seemed as if the Commission had been able to find ways and means to make its partiality quite obvious.

She also mentioned that she was rather worried that the deficiencies in the industry rules and the new investment could probably make it tougher for them to continue remaining in the front position.
