London Top among UK Cities for Broadband Speeds

A recent report from the popular broadband comparison website, Top 10 UK has revealed that the people of London enjoyed the fastest average broadband internet speeds in the United Kingdom, well ahead of the people living in the cities such as Birmingham and Manchester.



According to the report, the broadband internet users in London received an average connection speed of 7.54Mbps, just ahead of Manchester, whose people enjoyed an average speed of 7.2Mbps. The third place was secured by Birmingham with 6.7mbps speed.



The website also reported that broadband connection speeds considerably fluctuated during the day time. It pointed out that the best connection speeds were enjoyed at 2am with an average of 7Mbps and the worst speeds at 8pm with an average of 4.7Mbps.



Meanwhile, Point Topic’s chief analyst Tim Johnson said that he was impressed by the 7.5Mbps average broadband connection speeds enjoyed by the people of the capital city. However, he warned that there was too much stress given to headline speeds.



According to Johnson the average broadband connection speed that could be received by someone at any time of the day was far more significant than a headline figure. He blamed the industry for getting fixated on that, rather than making sure of a reasonable level of service.
