ISPA Awards 2018 Winners announced
The Internet Services Providers Association shortly known as ISPA has announced the winners at their 20th Annual ISPA Awards 2018 ceremony. The awards were declared on the ceremony held on 12th July, 2018 at Manchester Midland Hotel and brought the entire range of companies in the industry together and celebrate their success & achievements.
This year “Martha Spurrier” - Director of Liberty was crowned as “Internet Hero” Award, Hyperoptic as Superfast Broadband Award again this year and Gigaclear for Best Rural Broadband category. Whereas Martha Spurrier got this award for achieving high court challenge of Investigatory Powers Act. The ceremony evening had a view on the reach & growth of the industry in the past 20 years in their infrastructure, technology & roll out plans and also what have been achieved in 12 months with their broadband roll out, new investment projects and new regulations that affects the industry. The sponsors of the ISPA Awards were Magrathea, Ruckus, Zen, Purdicom, Glide and Wifinity.
The entry to the awards was opened to the companies in the industry offer broadband, hosting, cloud and VoIP services and those who have worked hard to make internet as a safe and secure platform for the users. Nominations were received in December for 13 categories and more than 60 companies took part and judged by a panel of experts from the industry.
The Winners of the ISPA Awards 2018 are:
Internet Hero - Martha Spurrier, Director of Liberty
For achieving the challenges of the Investigatory Powers Act in the High Court with greater safeguards of communications data acquisition.
Best Superfast Broadband - Hyperoptic
Winning for sixth year for their upgraded speeds, growing network & IPv6 support.
Commendation - Community Fibre
For providing free gigafast connections to community facilities, primary schools and sheltered schemes.
Best Rural Broadband - Gigaclear
Awarded for the second year for expanding their FTTH in rural areas, making the parts tough to reach as easy to access areas.
Best Business Broadband - Glide
Awarded specifically for achieving the coverage of poorly served business parks & making Openreach’s physical infrastructure access's success.
Commendation - M24Seven
For their customised solution services.
Best Wholesale Broadband - Entanet
For their additional investment with strong wholesale base operations & better access to fibre.

Special Twentieth Anniversary Award - Internet Watch Foundation
The special award was given to The Internet Watch Foundation for their commitment to keep safe internet environment for more than 20 years and global example of how the industry could work towards managing online issues.
Andrew Ferguson - ISPA Awards Chair of Judges commented that he would like to congratulate all the winners and saw the dynamic & strong entries in all the categories. He was pleased to see that still the ISPA and its awards are taking place strongly in the changing industry. He remembered of the earlier days of entrants and their services to the awards.
