Internet is no more a luxury but a necessity. The people in all walks of life are in need of it. It is required for businesses, students, residents and others. Its usage is not limited to entertainment and information purposes.

The people want to be connected even during holidays when they are away. Naturally the internet is the best way to achieve it.

In fact, it is very much important for promoting tourism, remarked the Prime Minister David Cameroon.

BT will make use of Fiber-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) and Fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology in Innerleithen.

Brian McCrow, a campaigner, is responsible for bringing super fast broadband to Innerleithen through BT. The retired IT manager asked the local people to sign a petition for getting the facility in their place. It is extremely difficult for the people to go for work during the oppressive weather conditions. They should be able to work from home. That will save them a lot of time and hardships and allow them to be with family while on work. That means a fast internet connection is inevitable.

The tourists can use iPads and smartphones while enjoying the scenic beauties of nature or while enjoying live games or taking part in entertainment.

James McClafferty, the director for ‘BT Scotland partnerships’, stated that digital divide was a major worry for the residents and business communities of Innerleithen and other rural areas that it may put them far behind advanced companies of the metropolitans. By having the super fast networks that problem can be solved entirely.
