As part of an expansion plan by BT, households on Cotswolds will receive super fast broadband. The £2.5 billion project will help people in the area access better broadband. Once the rollout is completed, higher broadband speeds will be offered to people across this area. As a result of the latest upgrade, 52,000 homes and businesses across the Gloucestershire will receive double broadband speeds. It is hoped, that the rollout will be completed by this year end.

With this rollout BT confirms its commitment to connecting two-thirds of the UK properties with high speed fibre technology by 2014. This scheme is part of the plans of Openreach, the BT’s local network business. Broadband speeds from 20Mbps to 300Mbps will be offered by Openreach. The speeds will depend upon whether fibre technology is offered directly to properties or to street cabinets. BT’s South West regional director John Reynolds said considers the latest investment to be a great boost for Gloucestershire. With this investment, small and large business can have good business broadband at low cost. By offering good broadband connection, businesses can expand its services, enhance competition and create new jobs.

Households on Cotswolds will have to wait for some time longer to enjoy high speed broadband benefits.
