G20 countries must give importance to global broadband needs
Broadband plays a crucial role in the social and economic development of the nations. It is as important as water, electricity, road, rail etc. Broadband is responsible for global economy growth.
The Broadband Commission for Digital development (BCDD) has requested the G20 nations to take initiative for the developing broadband networks worldwide for the benefit and well being of the societies.
BCDD clarified that investment must not be limited for infrastructure development but must be provided for online service, appropriate content and services, support for media etc such that broadband is available for all.
According to BCDD, the countries must take steps to ensure that the communities are able to taker advantage of the benefits of digital economy and innovations.
The new, aspiring digital enterprisers are able to create new contents, services and apps thanks to the broadband-enabled technologies.
On account of the innovations, the people have become software developers, lobbyists, journalists, entrepreneurs, activists and so on.
In future, there will be digital careers and industries about which no one can even imagine to day.
While planning the development of the broadband networks, importance must be given to varying user needs and the roles of mobile as well as fixed lines. That will necessitate a combination of technologies.
BCDD does not intend to promote any specific technological solution. It only wants that all should be benefited because of better communication means.
