Filling The high Speed Broadband To Its Brim
With the 100 million pounds Urban Broadband Fund being declared in the November of 2011, there were some suggestions of additional money being necessary for many other areas in the UK. As of now it looks like this additional grant has been obtained. If the 100 million pounds grant provided by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is shared by forty four BDUK, the amount of money that each one receives would be quite small, however it seems that not all the 44 will qualify for the funds.
the funding pot for UK’s target is the finest in Europe when considering broadband and currently has 530 million pounds obtained from the BDUK, 20 million pounds of non-metropolitan grants, 100 million pounds of metropolitan fund and another 100 million pounds form the ERDF, it would total to 750 million pounds.
A significant query is in what way this could change any plans that the local offices had already made. Like if a certain plan obtains additional grants, would the local offices and the business partners also be expected to make similar amounts? If that be so, it could be assumed that the money would only be harmful rather than helpful, because even if it gives additional money to get the work done, councils that are hard up for funds and the firms having difficulty to invest capitals would be tried all the more. Further if the money is passed on without local funds to match the amount, it could probably assist strategies to exceed the target of 90% accessing super-fast broadband and try to go a few points further to reaching 100%.
