Months from October to December 2011 were good for BT as a significant number of new subscribers were added to its client base. This quarter also saw BT extending its fibre broadband coverage to attract more customers. During Q4, the provider was able to include 146,000 additional customers. With the new addition, the number of customers has risen to 6,144,000. Although, the take-up is slightly less than July and September 2011, it helped BT retains its position in the market. Adoption to the Broadband packages of BT was significant high.

BT hopes to further expand its customer base during 2012. The goal seems achievable as the provider has extended the fibre broadband coverage to around seven million properties in the UK. Consequently, more customers will be added to its fibre-based Infinity service. BT’s fibre network connected over one million businesses and properties in the final months of 2011. At present, over 400,000 customers have subscribed to BT fibre broadband packages. They can enjoy up to 40Mb broadband speeds. BT Infinity services will develop significantly, enabling customers to access 300Mb high-speed services.

During Q4, 95,000 additional customers were included in the fibre platform. Ian Livingston, Chief Executive of BT pointed its high revenues, despite the slow economic conditions. Currently, BT has more than six million customers.
