East Yorkshire residents urged to fill up and submit questionnaire

Saturday, February 4th 2012

The residents and businesses in East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) have been asked by the local authorities to provide their feedback on the quality of broadband service available in their localities.

This is to determine the demands for faster internet connections. The views of the users can be furnished online on East Riding Broadband website up to the autumn season. Based on that the council will decide whether there is need for faster connection or not.

The government has earmarked GBP 8.5 million for improving the communication needs of Hull in east Yorkshire, North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire. The figure may be revised based on the latest data available.

The government’s target is to provide super fast broadband to 90% of the country population by 2015 and at least 2 Mbps broadband to the remaining.

Jonathen Owen of ERYC does not want the county to lag behind other places in the UK as far as up-to-date communication facilities are concerned.

He has requested the residents to visit the concerned website and respond to the questionnaire without fail as that will be the basis for the council to take up the matter with the higher authorities for asking for provision of better speeds and higher finance. He urged the residents not to miss the opportunity.
