Cloud Computing held back by Slow Broadband Speeds

Thursday, February 18th 2010

It has been reported that the businesses in the United Kingdom might not be able to boost the cloud computing potential until they were provided access to faster broadband internet connection speeds.

Matt Yardley, a partner at Analysys Mason a popular consultancy said that the company seriously required access to faster broadband internet services if it needed to embrace comprehensively the concept of software as a service on-demand.

Yardley noted while giving his views at the Keynote Seminar at the Westminster eForum that it would take considerable time until the United Kingdom was provided with ubiquitous coverage and complete availability of super fast broadband services.

Yardley took pain to warn the country that unless change was implemented quickly, it could take at least one more decade for businesses across the United Kingdom to enjoy the upload and download speeds actually needed by them.

Yardley concluded saying that a natural constraint could be placed by the present situation over the market potetial of small and medium enterprises in the country in terms of cloud computing.
