It has been reported that Cambridgeshire Country Council has received good support of the residents for its high-speed broadband campaign.

In Cambridgeshire, thousands of customers marked their valuable support in their campaign to launch high speed broadband service throughout the country in the first week of the scheme.

The initiative for Get Cambridgeshire Connected already has a huge support of around 3,000 businesses and shareholders, whereas the council told that this total is rapidly increasing.

This massive support of the local communities for the campaign is performing a vital role to provide next-generation internet service accessible to about 90% of businesses and households by the end of 2015.

For the scheme, Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) has the allotted the fund of up to £20 million, whereas Peterborough City Council offered the fund of £3 million for the purpose.

Broadband Delivery UK has boosted these amounts with £6.75 million along with the support of the central government and it is believed that private sector communications providers will further deliver their valuable investment in this regard.

The cabinet member for growth and planning at CCC, Mr. Ian Bates said that the Get Cambridgeshire Connected scheme is going to have a good beginning.

He stated that they knew about the great demand for good broadband service across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, especially in the rural areas, but they should be capable to exhibit this to the broadband suppliers in order to grab ample investment.
