BT plans to provide access to 16,000 premises in Shropshire
The giant in the UK’s communications sector, BT said that by next summer, in Shropshire more than 16,000 further business and homes will be provided access to high-speed broadband. According to the latest rollout plan of the provider, over copper lines, the next generation broadband services would be delivered to Hollinswood in Telford, Bayston Hill in Shrewbury Market Drayton and Baschurch. The speeds of the broadband would be up to 20 Mbps which is more than double of the speeds previously available to majority of the premises in the UK.
The super-fast broadband technology is already available in Stirchley, Telford, Cuckoo Oak, Dawley Church Stretton, Bridgnorth and Ludlow and by the summer of next year it is expected to reach 87 per cent of West Midlands premises.
The managing director of Shropshire Chamber Commerce, Mr. Richard Sheehan said that the organization really happy to welcome BT’s announcement that it is going to roll out its super-fast broadband services to Shropshire region and that the future success of the county is greatly dependent on the super-fast broadband with out which the region would become a ‘dark area’ in the communication map of the UK. In the modern digital communications market, in order to compete in the global market, the households and local businesses should have access to super-fast broadband.
