BT Express Regret At The Disruption of Their Business Broadband Services

Saturday, January 21st 2012

A serious breakdown disrupted business broadband network services of BT in the early hours of 20th January this year. The telecommunication giant BT have declared that it had undergone a very serious disruption in their business broadband early that day and there seemed some doubts that the problem still seemed to affect the BT broadband users. A representative for BT informed the Register that the issue had been set right after a short disruption that started around 7:26 GMT. The official Twitter feed for BT asserted that the problem was corrected at 11:30. Nevertheless the status page of the firm displayed the problem as continuing even after the mentioned time. Those broadband users who had suffered consequences have been requested to down the power of their router and their computer for about half a minute before restarting them. Bt had advised them that once both the PC and the router had been restarted, they should try reconnecting with the broadband network. The company stated that they were indeed sorry for any difficulties that had been caused as a result of this disruption. This disruption in BT broadband services closely follows the outage that the Virgin Media broadband network had suffered just a couple of days earlier. In fact even that breakdown in Virgin Media network services had resulted in many of their subscribers being unable to get connected to the internet other than a break in their landline connections. The ADSL facilities from Virgin Media suffered an outage from 17:00 to 20:00 on Tuesday the 17th of January 2012. In spite of the company stating that the issue had been resolved, people were still suffering for connectivity problems. A spokesperson for Virgin Media informed BBC News that the problem was created by some trouble in their routing hardware, but he did not mention the number of users, from the five million of their subscribers, who suffered due to the outage.
