Business concerns in Scotland will be greatly benefited if the communication facilities there are made up-to-date. Brendan Dick of ‘BT Scotland’ stated that the Scottish government’s plan to bring super fast internet to the residents and businesses is indeed praiseworthy.

While households can enjoy sites like ‘Facebook’ and ‘YouTube’, it will be the business concerns which will gain from fast and reliable internet access. They will be in a position to keep abreast of the international market trends and to compete in the worldwide markets.

As a result, the businesses can prosper garnering more opportunities for the youth of the place. BT is set to invest GBP 2.5 billion to provide fiber optic broadband to 66% of the UK by making use of the ‘Fiber-to-the cabinet’ (FTTC) and ‘Fiber-to-the premises’ (FTTP) technologies. It will be a real challenge to provide the infrastructure in a place like Scotland.

A partnership approach will make things easy, feels Mr. Dick. With the introduction of FTTC the average speed is expected to increase from the current 10 Mbps to as high as 40 Mbps. The download speed may soar to even 300 Mbps on installation of FTTP links.

In the meantime, ‘Virgin Media’ informed that more than ten million people of the UK are enjoying its broadband service with a speed of 100 Mbps.
