According to British consumers, Broadband provides the best entertainment. This is as per a research conducted by internet service provider ‘Virgin Media’.

The Entertainment Spending survey initiated by ICM has established that 90% of the respondents have saved substantial amount of money by surfing and searching for products and services through the web.

Comparison sites, online shopping sites, auction sites, online news sites etc take the top positions among the sites which help the consumers to save money.

Most of the respondents accept that Broadband is extremely useful and is of great value. But more than 50% of those interviewed said that digital home entertainment is one thing that they would never like to miss. Digital TV is a part of their life for most of the British as it gives them very good entertainment.

Michael Hulme, professor at Lancaster University said about the research that by making use of the comparison sites, doing online shopping, avoiding actual visits to the shopping centres etc will generate considerable savings for the users, which means that the broadband is profitable to them.

The research was conducted after Experian Hitwise came to the conclusion that the UK consumers spent more than 13 million hours with online shopping sites on 26th of December 2011.
