Broadband charges are cheap in UK compared to that in the USA

The USA broadband provider Verizon had launched a fiber service known as FiOS, which provides packages ranging from 15 Mbps to 300 Mbps.

FiOS internet service is through fiber optic lines, unlike DSL which runs on telephone lines. Obviously, the speed in FiOS is much larger. Loading new websites, switching between websites etc were much faster with FiOS than DSL.

Many are not aware of the rates for the FiOS packages, which are with respect to bands. For example, 1 Mbps and below is available for $19.99 a month. The rate mounts to $29.99 per month for speeds between 1.1 Mbps and 15 Mbps.

The fiber service with 15 Mbps download speed and 5 Mbps upload speed costs $69.99 a month. At $79.99 per month 50 Mbps download speed and 25 Mbps upload speed can be got.

150 Mbps and 300 Mbps are available at $99.99 and $209.99 respectively every month.

Taxes and other government levies are extra

All the services are unlimited. As average usage increases broadband rate per month may increase.

Superfast broadband in the UK is available at £10 to £15 per month over and above the ADSL2+ package. BT Retail absorbs the extra wholesale costs as it did in the case of the ADSL roll out.

Virgin Media’s rate for £34.75 for 100 Mbps download service is closest to that of FiOS.
