‘Better Broadband for Norfolk’ campaign picking up fast in the districts
Norfolk County Council’s ‘Say Yes to Better Broadband’ campaign to provide superfast broadband to households and business concerns in the county has been welcomed by all including government authorities. Local authorities are doing their best to persuade users to sign up for registration, by the strength of which the higher authorities can be approached for finance. Ann Steward, cabinet member of Norfolk County Council has advised all the 84 members of the council to contact the parishes and appraise them to enlighten the importance of high speed broadband to the communities. Helen Eales of the North Norfolk District Council remarked that the council’s interest is to make available the fastest broadband for the county. William Nunn of Breckland Council stated that the fastest broadband will pave the way for the prosperity of the county. It is inevitable for the businesses to compete in the international market. Most of the areas in Breckland are struggling with low speed. There is no coverage at all, in certain places. The council wants to put an end to this. For that the support from the users and public is badly required. That is why the council is insisting on registration by the people. Barry Stone, the cabinet member shares the views of Nunn. He stated that he had requested all the residents of Great Yarmouth Borough to support the broadband campaign and accordingly sign up the registration form. John Fuller of South Norfolk Council assured the support of the residents of the rural Norfolk districts for the campaign. Though the objective of BDUK is to meet the needs of the rural areas, the people of Norwich, the place with the fastest broadband service in the region, are enthusiastically taking part in the campaign. Marie Strong of Wells Council stated that members of the Barsham Parish Council were meeting every resident and asking them to sign up for registration.
