• BBC iPlayer to be launched on X-mas day

The BBC iPlayer which has been undergoing beta version will finally be launched on Christmas day, according to the report from the BBC. Since many of the BBC staff will not be on roll on Christmas as it is vacation, many feel it is not the right day for launching the IPTV of the TV entertainment giant.

The beta version of on-demand TV launched on internet platform by BBC this year has already become a subject of criticism by many in the UK, especially, by its main rivals like Tiscali TV and Virgin Media. It was Tiscali which raised the question of congestion on lines when BBC iPlayer launched a couple of months ago. However, there are no clear evidences for bandwidth crisis that rivals of BBC iPlayer cautioned, so far.

Currently, BBC iPlayer is only available for Windows XP users although BBC is planning to make its service compatible with other OS in near future
