All people living and having businesses in West Sussex are being persuaded to make a record of their interest and support for improved broadband facilities n the county.

Lionel Barnard, the Deputy Leader of the West Sussex County Council, who is in charge of the Enterprise stated that the county council had pledged an amount of 6.26 million pounds that would be equivalent to the grant from the government to enhance broadband network facilities in the county.

He also said that if they were to avail of the complete advantage of this investment and make certain that they would provide better broadband initially to those who require it most urgently they require to have a precise idea of the need for improved broadband throughout West Sussex.

He stated that by indicating their support through registration, the residents would be doing their role in letting the authorities know where the requirement is.

The people as well as the business enterprises can register through the website, West Sussex –Better Connected at www.westsussex-betterconnected.org.uk or by filling in a registration form that can be availed of at the local library or help point.

By doing so they would be able to display to the authorities where the stages of requirements are in the different towns when they are chalking out the programme for broadband enhancement. This registration in no way implies that it is mandatory for the residents sign up for the service when it is launched.

Mr. Barnard also said that the main objective of the venture was to make certain that enhanced broadband facilities are accessible to the residents as well as the business houses.

He said that it was predominantly critical for their local economy and their businesses. Many of the businesses are carried out from the residences. He stated that in these hard times everybody requires to get together and work in trying to aid in improving the financial prosperity and be able to back the local business enterprises.

He informed that improved access to broadband would assist in lowering social segregation in the more non-metropolitan communities making it simpler and less expensive for the people to access the Internet.
