The trial run of the 80Mb fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) broadband by BT is all ready to pass on to the registered pilot level.

BT the telecom giants have declared that come 2012 February 6th and the formal condition of the said project will changed. This would be when the plan would be thrown open to people who had registered for the trial of the GEA-FTTC 80/20 product variant.

ISPreview.co.uk. have made it clear that this would be a part of BT’s continuing strategy of enhancing the fibre-to-the-cabinet broadband speeds from up to 40Mb to up to 80Mb.

This venture that had been declared in the month of May would also ensure that homes and business enterprises obtain Internet accessibility to quicker upload speeds.

In the FTTC technology, fibre is what is utilized to generate a quicker connection between the cabinets in the street and the telephone exchange in that locality. From there on they would be utilizing copper wires to connect homes and business houses to the closest street cabinet.

Of all BT’s projects, the 100Mb fibre-to the-premises broadband is the fastest wherein the copper wires that provide broadband connectivity from the street cabinet to the home or business is replaced by the installation of a fibre optic connection from the street cabinet to the houses.
