Eclipse survey finds internet as one of the basic needs

Tickbox.net and Eclipse Internet conducted a survey over a sample of over 1500 people to find out the importance of internet in their lives. The findings are quite amusing. It seems more people gives much more priority to this communication technology than other privacy issues.

More than ninety percent of the people surveyed said that broadband connection is more essential than having screen curtains or microwave and they would find it very difficult to live without broadband connection even for a month. In comparison, only less than half of the people (32 %) felt the curtains are essential and would find it impossible to live without them. Less than one-tenths (8.5 %) of the surveyed people said the microwave is a must utility for the homes.

The survey also indicated that the users needed to wait for a longtime to get internet connection. Nearly half of the people said that the internet connections usually take much longer time amongst other essential services like electricity, water and telephone. Even after getting the equipment, 70 percent of the internet customers do not get their lines activated within a week, sometimes, activation may take place even after a month, according to one-quarter of the total respondents of the survey.
