Spam target home workers - UK Online report
Home networking enables the users to share a single broadband connection. As the number of families that have more than a single internet user is on increase, the home networking is seen as a viable solution to the broadband needs of all individuals in a family. Apart from that, home networking also helps the mobile workers to work from the home with a few PCs linked to a common internet connection. According to the latest survey conducted by the UK broadband provider, UK Online, majority of the respondents (80 %) said that the sharing the internet connection for the main reason for their decision to go for home networking. More than half of them (60 %) have cited the greater mobility or flexibility of home networking that made their work simpler and efficient. The number of SMEs that have home based employees is also on increase thanks to the home networking that spreads fast over UK households in recent times. Online shopping from home was also cited as a reason by 15 percent of the respondents. While internet and home networking have changed the working style and efficiency of the employees of SMEs, a few downsides also happen to affect their businesses. For instance, the mail boxes of the half of the respondents were often filled with spam. Currently, spam or junk mail poses a potential problem to SMEs and their employees. It seems the management of hosting email by many email providers still fails to prevent spam. The problem of spam is still more acute for the mobile workers, the report seems to suggest.
