UK will get the best broadband by 2015, suggest BT

As for now the UK is much behind the target of making the UK the best connected nation. However BT believes that by 2015, the UK will have the best broadband services in the country. The goal to bring best broadband in the UK was dropped by the country as they were concentrating on covering the entire nation with a minimum of 2Mbps broadband by the end of 2015.

Connecting the remotest areas in the country with broadband and to end digital divide was considered more important. Broadband provider, BT said that in three years time, the UK will achieve the best in Europe title. Group Director of Strategy Policy for BT, Sean Williams said that BT will attain the target by 2015 or soon after that. He was talking to the Westminster eForum event.

Since many of the nations are already doing better and they will continue developing their infrastructure development it will be a hard time for the UK to achieve the mark.

He said that technology is growing ahead of the consumer demand. Ofcom also noted this trend. Virgin Media is currently in front of the schedule and BT is also catching up. Regarding the best in Europe target and the government targets, BT wants to remain cynical.
