Super fast fiber optic erection by BT in full swing
The British government wants super fast broadband throughout the country at the earliest, as it will help the business community and ultimately in the enhanced economy of the country.
Jeremy Hunt, the secretary of State for Culture and Media is pleased at the attitude of the government.
BT, the main service provider is already on the job and has set aside GBP 2.5 billion for the project. It is planning to invest around GBP 300 million in the following years and recruit a number of personnel including about 520 engineers to expedite the work.
The new staff will be mainly from those who served in the armed forces.
Ian Livingstone of BT is pleased to take up the challenge. Fiber broadband is the fastest and most modern and so BT will be pleased to involve in the prestigious project, which will do a lot of benefit to the nation.
BT is progressing fast. Over six million households and business houses are already provided with the fiber connection.
In early October BT had confirmed that it would be able to offer 300 megabits/sec not only to the subscribers but also to other service providers on certain payment terms. This will help the other service providers to serve their own subscribers.
Hunt has showered praise on BT for its efforts, which will help business concerns to grow at rapid rate and compete in the world market. It will also help in the introduction of fresh products and services.
The government has suggested to the providers not to neglect rural areas. BT has in fact come forward to take up the installation in the upcountry.
