P2P Filsharers' Broadband Cut off Plans flayed by BT Chief

The newest broadband provider in the United Kingdom to oppose the three-strikes internet piracy legislation proposal of the government is the fixed-line telecoms giant of the country BT.

As a matter of fact, Ian Livingston the chief of BT has picked up the gauntlet emulating TalkTalk in the anti-three strikes campaign that has been floated by a number of broadband providers in the UK.

It was news when TalkTalk had blatantly campaigned against the proposals put forth by the Digital Britain report in favour of the copyright companies. However, despite all the opposition Lord Mandelson had kind of taken the issue with dogged determination much like a personal campaign.

The chief executive of BT said that the proposal pointing towards the disconnection of the broadband internet accounts of consumers that were suspected of downloading copyright content illegally was unfair. He added that he believed issuing fines would have been better.

Besides Livingston a number of other key figures in the industry including spokesmen from Yahoo, Google, eBay and Facebook as well have demanded certain changes to be made to the bill. This followed the expressing of concern by these people in a letter that was published by the Financial Times.

Nevertheless, a good number of industry experts believe that BT's warcry comes a bit if not considerably late as entities like TalkTalk had shown the courage to oppose it right from the beginning.
