Nine more Cornish communities connected to BT’s fibre-broadband
Nine Cornish Communities, Truro, Bude, Liskeard, Falmouth, Launceston, Marazion, Dobwalls, Marhamchurch and North Hill are connected to the broadband technology thanks to the rollout of fibre broadband by the telecoms giant, BT. Up to 2000 households and businesses in these areas would be benefited with the improved connectivity. Currently the businesses and households in these areas are getting a download speed of 40 Mbps.
BT’s Superfast Cornwall programme director, Mr Ranulf Scarbrough said that the firm is happy to announce that the completion of super-fast broadband in the nine communities in the Cornwall is actually months ahead of the schedule. It shows the commitment of the company and it also proves that Super-fast Cornwall is strengthening day by day. He added that the project is in its infant stage and it expects more challenges in the coming months. However, BT will always stand for the improvement of broadband provision for its customers through out the UK.
It is also learnt that the communications giant has appointed 48 engineers to its Openreach businesses. This additional appointment of engineers is for speeding up the deployment of Super-fast broadband in the areas of Cornwall. All these new recruits are expected to be working on the rollout of high speed broadband by the end of January 2012.
