Damage to cables disrupt broadband service in Dundee

The broadband service provider BT has informed that about 60 homes and businesses in Dundee, Scotland are disturbed by the disruption of broadband and landline service caused by the damage to the network by other agencies. In fact, the particular damage was caused while work was going on the waterfront of Dundee on 21st and 22nd of January this year.

A spokeswoman of BT told the Courier that two telephone cables were cut while the work on the waterfront was being carried out by a contractor, last week. Each of the cable was meeting the broadband and landline needs of at least 30 customers in the localities. That means totally 60 users would have been affected, resulting in much convenience to them in carrying out their normal duties.

She also informed that the damage would have no effect on the Dundee Rep theatre as it has nothing to do with the damaged cables.

The spokesperson is extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused to the customers.

This sort of disruption is not for the first time. A few days back the users of BT broadband service in Middle Barton and Tackley in Oxfordshire suffered a similar experience when the copper cables of the close by Steeple Aston Exchange were subject to theft.
