BT's Fon app gives access to 1.5 Million Wi-Fi hotspots
BT has launched an application for smartphones that will connect the BT Total Broadband customers to its network of 1.5 million Wi-Fi hotspots for free. FInd exclusive broadband comparison, special offers and checkout best broadband deals.
The fon application allows iPhone and Android users to take advantage of their nearest Wi-Fi hotspots. The users of both iPhone and Android phone can enter their BT email username and password to log in whenever they are under the BT Wi-Fi coverage. With 1.5 million Wi-Fi hotspots, the BT Openzone can call itself as the largest Wi-Fi network in the UK.
The application allows the BT Total Broadband customers to access unlimited Wi-Fi for free. Both the Apple iPhone and the Android phone have the option of searching for Wi-Fi connections in a continuous fashion. But the results often lead users to password protected hotspots and also accessing Wi-Fi hotspots is not always free. The fon app is just in contradiction as the search result gives BT Wi-Fi hotspots which are unlimited and free.
BT extend their helping hand towards the BBC's Children in Need Appeal by giving them 50 pence for each for the first 20,000 downloads of the application. The Apple iPhone users can download the BT fon app from the iTunes store and the Android phone users can download it from the Android Market. The app seems to work like a treat and the best thing it's free.
