BT’s broadband plans to benefit Hemsworth and South Elmsall in West Yorkshire
The broadband provider BT’s announcement of super fast broadband for Hemsworth and South Elmsall was gleefully received by the business concerns there. BT’s project, which is part of its GBP 2.5 billion investment, is to be completed by next year. The households and businesses to which the fiber optic cable will be fed will get download speeds of 300 Mbps. The speed available will be 80 Mbps when the fiber optic cable is delivered at the street cabinets. The average speed of the UK broadband is 6.8 Mbps at present. Ben Brooks of ‘LS Live’ in South Kirkby is too pleased about the plan of BT. He remarked that faster broadband will be of great use to his company, whose business will improve as touring artists will be in need of sending large music and video files. A long movie will be downloaded in about 10 minutes, a CD within 30 seconds and a song in a mere 10 seconds. High upload speeds allow video files and data files to be transferred immediately. BT’s plan will be wholeheartedly welcomed by the prospective customers. Peter Box of Wakefield Council informed that the economy of the district will increase significantly. It will allow the business establishments to compete in the national and international market. It will provide better job opportunities for the youth. John Anderson of BT shares the same opinion. It will improve the standard of the life of the subjects. It will also pave the way for online learning and access to information.
