Super-fast broadband installation is progressing fast in 15 towns and villages of Cornwall thanks to the service provider BT, which is also laying fiber optic cable for 25% of the exchanges in Cornwall.

According to BT, work is also in progress in St Austell and the villages of Polgooth, Sticker and Trewoon.

Redruth, Lanner, Carn Brea Village, Illogan Highway and Four Lanes will also benefit on account of BT’s fiber optic broadband roll out.

In addition, BT has already taken up the installation of next generation broadband in 21 places connected with Cornish telephone exchange.

The service provider is hopeful of providing super fast broadband to 90,000 households and businesses in Cornwall by March of the year, on account of the latest upgrades.

Ranulf Scarbrough, the director for the super-fast Cornwall programme of BT, remarked that lot of work is yet to be done but things are moving in the positive direction. He is delighted that the people of Cornwall will be able to reap the harvest in the days to come.

He is confident that by the end of the year 14 more towns will be benefited including Camelford, Perranporth, Trebetherick etc. Catering to these places was originally planned for the next year, but it is possible even by the end of the current year.
