BT to upgrade exchanges in Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright
Households in Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright are to benefit from faster broadband speeds when BT upgrades their exchanges by spring. Both the towns can access speeds of up to 20Mbps by next year.
Other areas to benefit from their next generation copper broadband are Dalbeattie and Dumfries. The upgrades in Stewartry will deliver high speed broadband in over 6,000 households. BRendan Dick, BTs Scotland director said that the broadband development in Dumfries and Galloway communities was a significant move in enhancing the communication in the country.
He said that residents can use faster broadband for entertainment and education while local companies can improve their business and be more competitive. To provide improved broadband connections in remote and rural areas, both private and public sectors should work jointly.
Alex Fergusson, Local MSP welcomes the BT’s decision and said that the upgrade will benefit both homes and businesses.
