BT roll-out to Audlem
BT, the communications provider revealed that the most recent phase of the company’s roll-out plans include villagers in Audlem. In the next generation broadband service over copper lines, 24,800 premises, including the villagers in Audlem, across South Cheshire and North Staffordshire would be provided super-fast connectivity.
The aim of the provider while making huge investments is to provide the homes and businesses access to broadband speeds of up to 20 Mbps which is more than two times the speeds formerly available to the majority of premises in the UK.
Over and above the 2.5 billion Pound investment for the rollout of superfast fibre-based broadband, BT is making additional investment with a view to enhance the broadband speeds to 2/3rd of the premises of the UK by 2014
Mr John Dovey, the Regional Director BT said that across the region the deployment of super-fast broadband is running at a rapid pace. The company had already announced its plan to provide more than one million businesses and homes in the West Midlands with super-fast fibre-based broadband facility by the end of 2012. Now the company is making a further investment in faster broadband speeds over copper lines. He added that no other communications provider is doing what BT is doing to rollout faster broadband across the region. Major improvements in the telecoms sector will definitely boost the local businesses and it will also create additional entertainment and educational opportunities for households. He continued that the firm would seek the possibility to extend the deployment of broadband service to geologically and commercially challenging areas.
