The leading fixed-line broadband provider operating in the United Kingdom, BT has recently bowled over the residents of a Berwickshire village by their announcement of increasing broadband internet coverage in the village.

The local residents have keenly welcomed the move by the internet service provider on the context.

According to reports, it should be the Whitsome telephone exchange that was all set to benefit from upgrades in broadband UK technology. The upgrade would allow the exchange to help more consumers in the area to receive broadband internet services from the month of June.

According to reports in Berwickshire Today, the residents of the area have welcomed the move although their connection speed in average would linger around the 512Kbps mark.

One of the local residents that are benefited by the changes, Ian Jarvie said to the newspaper that it was fantastic that ISP BT would boost the number of slots on their exchange with a view to allow more users to access broadband internet.

He added that he knew one woman in the village that has tried on a few occasions to switch from dial-up internet to broadband but unsuccessfully for the lack of sufficient capacity.
