100Mbits/sec commercial broadband services is unveiled by BT
The broadband provider BT has unveiled its plans to launch 100Mbits/sec commercial broadband services. The services could offer better upload speeds that the rival companies, claims BT. BT Infinity broadband services has been expanded by the company to add the super fast connection. With the capability to offer up to 100Mbits/se download speeds, it will offer super fast connection.
The maximum speed offered by the services will not match the fastest connection offered by Virgin Media. However, BT said that they can provide 50 per cent more upload speeds. The fibre used in the BT Infinity Option 3 will go to the individual homes. It can be accessed by a few exchanges and areas that are upgraded by BT Openreach. The areas to benefit from the service initially are Ilford in Essex, Ashford in Middlesex, Highams Park and Leytonstone in London, Forest Hill, Chester, York, St. Austell and Exeter.
The technology is being rolled out by BT. The company have announced £2.5bn funds for improving its fibre infrastructure that could offer next generation broadband. By 2014, over two-thirds of houses and properties in the UK will be connected to their fibre-based services. Earlier target set by the company was 2015.
With government funds remote and rural areas can be connected by BT services, the company said.
