New Openreach Trials Announced by BT

It has been much encouraging for the fibre optic broadband fans of the country that the leading fixed-line broadband service provider of the United Kingdom, BT has confirmed its plans of trialing the FTTP (fibre to the premises) technology on Brownfield locations for the first time.

BT is believed to launch the FTTP networks in a couple of locations of Milton Keynes as well as London from the beginning of the coming year, through its subsidiary Openreach. It is also understood that the proposed broadband services would deliver access speeds of up to 100Mbps.

Furthermore, the fibre optic broadband service that can deliver up to 100Mbps speeds, will also serve 20000 businesses and homes in the country. This will be maintained by the UK broadband provider who will also provide the customers with high upstream services of up to 110Mbps.

This fact had reflected in the words of David Campbell that crucial was the fibre to the premises deployment. Campbell is the managing director of Openreach. He added that the deployment of FTTP in Ebbsfleet had allowed them to learn greatly about the fibre broadband rollout directly to households in Greenfield areas.

Campbell emphasized their view that Brownfield areas would benefit considerably from the huge potential of the technology.
