BE Broadband launches

Broadband provider BE has launched a campaign to 'banish' the buffering time for internet video stream. The 'Campaign to Banish Buffering' has been launched just ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup so that online viewers can have an unhindered viewing experience. Buffering is supposed to facilitate smooth playing of online videos for slow connections. However, this process is known to be getting on the nerves of several online viewers.

BE is looking to put an end to this annoyance with its new campaign. “We want to end buffering, because it’s going to hinder you from making the most out of your online viewing experience.” said the ISP's blog. The provider says that video streaming will be slowest during the peak hours of the evening, especially around 5 to 6 pm when the World Cup games will be on in full swing.

While the average broadband speed is about 3.6 mbps in the UK, at least 9 mbps of bandwidth is required for streaming video without buffering, according to BE. ISPreview is of the opinion that the Banish Buffering campaign is nothing but a 'clever bit of publicity' to brag about how much better their speeds are when compared to others in the industry.
