LAN IP and Static IP
Can anyone explain the difference between LAN IP address and a static IP? Who allocates these IP addresesses?
Is this true that ISP charge us for providing static IP? Why do we need static IP?

A static IP address is a number that is a assigned to a computer by an internet server providor.Your internet server providor shouldn't charge you for providing an static IP.This IP is needed if you perform any illegal activty etc. its easy to report and track a certain computer.

LAN IP address is the private address of your PC in a LAN. It can be either static or dynamic. Usually, the router assigns this IP and you can modify the settings in the router to make it static or dynamic.

Assiging a free dynamic address to you by your ISP is norm. However, static IP addresses may be assigned free with certain business broadband packages otherwise you will pay for getting a static IP.

Static IP never changes and it is same everytime you log on to internet, while dynamic IP is automatically assigned by a remote DHCP server and is not same everytime and will change depending on the availability of addresses in a network.

Static IP is useful for businesses and is not necessary for most of the home users. It helps to spot out the servers in a large enterprise.
