If you want to be protected, invest in the best. We have seperate equipment for the encryption of our internet stuff at the office, and at home we have WPA with a 128long string of "stuff" - letters and numbers, which mean nothing to anyone :P

Yeah my SSID is kinda like that. Firstly I've stopped it from being broadcast, and apart from being long, it contains a nice little 'threat' to snoopers.

Some in my area even have the house address in,

Nice. Some here arent protected, i was sat upstairs in my house and when connecting with Linux, i got access to about 5 other NON protected ones, without any problems. ;P

Have you ever tried Kismet?

I haven't but read that it's passive so doesn't set off alarms and also from watching vid's have seen it picks up a lot more access points than NetStumbler for windows, which isn't passive and pings the AP's.

Security is important. How can I secure my i-phone which is under constant attcks these days as everyone knows that safari can be hacked easily.

Don't do any important transactions on safari as it can easily be hacked install some other application.

I have never had any security breaches on my network but im very carefull I take the following steps.

1/ Restrict the radio signals from travelling too far.

2/ Use wpa encyption.

3/ Use a good passphrase to generate a strong network encyption key.

4/ Use mac address filtering.

5/ Change the network key weekly.

6/ Use good network monitoring software.

Thanks i risked this without an WEP key and had an un-secure wireless network.I thought i would be okay however, after checking the IPS conencted to the router there was 5 users.I booted them all off apart from myself, and laptops connection and added a WEP key so cheers.
