The router should have information that tells you what the range is of that particular router. I have found that the lower costs routers seem to have a lower range for wireless activity.

You may want to use a linksys, or belkin brand as in the past I have had no problem with either of these two routers and they can be purchased at a local department store.

Linksys is good but its a bit expensive and also not that user friendly to configure so do read the manual carefully before installing.

The maximumn I get from my cisco router is about 25 meters after that you can connect to the router but you don't get internet access.

The maximum range for a router ranges up to 50 metres however, this is the best router you can get.Standard routers have a range of up to 25 metres as stated by two other users.
