OK, who knows the costs for this technology. What i want to know is how the home base station's cost and what are the average monthly rates, stuff like that.

Other have only 80 monthly base and the other is 100 to 120.

Can somebody tell me as to (a) what is special about Wimax?
(b)How will it be used?
(c)What are the expected benefits vis-a-vis rates?

Is it that if you need a broadband, in a place where there is no or limited wired capacity, you cannot get the connections..

Wimax is supposed to be a replacment for DSL connections for boradbands...

The solution lies if Tier 1 ISps can extend this connection wireless to the customer place...Thats where Wimax steps in.

It just extends your broadband connection to the "last mile" by point to multipoint connection

You need a subs stn which is linked wirelessly to the nearest ISP base stn which has to be installed in line of site(preferrable)..Rest of it is as same as before ..like that of a DSL
