Anyone use Fonero?
There is a movement called 'Fonero' where people can buy wireless routers that offer a private network, plus an access point that only either paying customers or other Fonero members can log in to. You can either be a 'linus' and allow other Fon users to use your network for free in return for free access yourself, or a 'bill' - you have to pay to use other peoples wifi, but make money when people use yours.

It's quite nifty for people who travel a lot - you can check their web site to see if there are any Fonero users in the area you are travelling to.

I picked up one of their routers a while back - it's fairly limiting in what it supports (being neither a true NAT device or AP), but it's a nice idea - and fine for use if you have a fairly simple network set up.

I was thinking about become a "fonero" but I haven't yet. I probably will in the future though. The cool thing about this is that you can WIFI anywhere you want. I did some research and here is what I found...

"Most members (aka Foneros) "share their wireless Internet access at home and, in return, enjoy free WiFi wherever they find another Fonero’s Access Point", these are known as Linuses. Aliens do not share their WiFi and are charged for using the FON network. Bills do not take advantage of the free roaming WiFi and instead get a cut of the fees that Aliens pay to use their WiFi. This could subsidize the cost of your WiFi if your business or home is in a heavily trafficked part of town."

Sounds pretty good, except that I enjoy free WIFI whenever I travel throughout the world. Is this only available here in the UK or other places as well.
