Is satellite broadband affordable?
Heard that satellite broadband is alternative technology for 3G in remote areas.
But, how much affordable is satellite broadband? How it works? If it is expensive, what is the future of satellite broadband?

Yes, satellite based broadband is not as cheap as ADSL or cable broadband. You need expensive satellite dish to use this technology. You also need to subscribe to a satellite broadband provider. Though expensive, prices have fallen in recent times, and can become competitive with 3G mobile broadband in near future.

I would recommend mobile broadband instead. satellite based broadband is difficult to install and expensive as well. It is has some weaknesses like low latency that can affect your online gaming experience.

Satellite broadband hardware costs start at around £1,300 installed, and monthly service costs start at £59.99 for a basic 1 user system. Coverage is available anywhere in the UK including the Channel Isles and the Scottish Islands. Typical lead times are 10 days from order.

This is not recommended this is far too expensive i would stay clear of this.Connection is used by a standard ethernet connection and this service is not suitable for gaming.

But the most important problem that one would face is there will be some delay when it comes to communication. So naturally you will get less speed. The places where cables cannot be used you can go for it.
