Does satellite broadband timeout during rains ?
In our house ,for one tv we have satellite tv service that refuses to work when it pours ,though the picture quality is much better than the cable tv service.Does satellite broadband also go out when it rains and do the providers already inform you so when you buy the package ?

If your TV signal is going when its raining may be worth getting your dish realigned, but to answer your question yes its more than possible as really heavy rain can disturb TV and data signals.

Thanks,Jen.I thought so( about the internet ).We have actually screwed in the dish as we had to get it realigned several times after the initial installation , but the picture is still lost when it rains.I hate it when it happens during sports matches because some of the channels aren't available on the cable tv.I hope a more evolved technology comes through that can replace satellite internet and isn't interrupted by rains.

The other thing is Satellite broadband tends to use a different dish than Sky Digital which is more like the old Sky Analogue ones which may be affected differently to your existing dish by rain.

Saying that its very expensive and if you have any kind of broadband connection available other than satellite I would go for that first.

I am currently on DSL and quite like my ISP , but I have been researching about other conections since I read the news about the fastest internet connection at a residence in sweden at 40 Gbps. That's a mind boggling speed and the article quoted the people who were involved in making it possible saying fibre technology makes such high speed connections technically and commercially viable.

I don't think that it is a satellite's problem that when it pours then the program on the television wipes out. I might be the problem of the dish antenna installed on your roof.

London, the problem is the signal refracts on the drops of rain spreading it out making the signal quality not high enough to recieve a TV or a data signal. The problem isnt really the dish or the original signal but the path it takes to get to you. I was just simplifing it.
