RedTen Internet Free PC offer
Has anyone tried this Red Ten internet? It is hard to believe that they are giving away free PC when you sign-up for a broadband contract.

The catch is that you have to sign up for a 3 year contract, but it is still very cost effective, if you are wanting a new PC. There is still a bit of doubt though whether a 3 year contract is a good deal and you have to return the PC if you terminate your contract within 3 years, with some admin fee etc.

Still if you are unlikely to switch providers in the next 3 years, it might be worth having a look.

No free lunch ;)
I do not think I am interested in this. There are too many catches and they tie you up for a very long time. If something happens and you want to get out of the contract, the penalties are hectic.

Ofcourse, three year contract is such a long period. But they offer a free PC for it.

Now the days of free modem, free wireless router have gone! Free PC is definitely the best free offer that has ever been announced till date. We have to accept the fact that the ISPs in UK are to find new marketing strategies to sell their products. I don't know what will follow next.

Personally I cannot help wondering about such an offer. I think this offer will be for limited period. If you don't expect too much from their services, you will be naturally interested in it.

This offer might be good for people who currently don't own a PC, can't afford to buy one outright, and want to get online - but for anyone else I don't think it's a good deal. The PC is pretty poor for all but the casual user, and the broadband package they're offering is OK, but not spectacular.

The offer has been suspended at the moment as they have run out of PCs, although looking at their prices they dont seem that bad. However its the 3 year contract is how they make their money, try and leave before then you would have to buy your way out of the contract.

Perhaps a "better" offer is the PCWorld and Orange one here, a free laptop (Or discount on any laptop you choose) when signing up for 24 month Orange Broadband at 15 quid month.

This thread makes me think that a good idea for this forum may be to do a "Free PC Alert" or just a "Free Stuff Alert". Is there a suggestions forum that I could pu that on?
