Free laptop from PCWorld with Orange Broadband
Looks like this whole "Free" PC thing is coming back, there was the RedTen offer and now PC World are getting onto the bandwagon.

According to this you can get a free reasonable spec laptop, or a discount on any laptop if you sign up to Orange Broadband for 2 years. Thats only 6 months more than some of the other ISPs contracts and you get a laptop. Even the rate of 15 quid a month isnt that bad. And you even (I assume) get Orange Wednesdays as well.

Is it true that AOL follows the suit by offering a free laptop to its new subscribers who sign up for 24 months contract?

I don't know much details about their new special offer. Anyone knows?

It doesn't sound like a bad deal - the 2 year contract is bearable considering most people don't seem to change ISP all that often anyway. I have a friend who signed up to Orange Broadband a couple of months ago - I bet he is going to be annoyed he missed out on this deal

Seemed a great offer at first, even with the 2 year contract.

But 2gig a month bandwidth limit?!?! That's a joke.

Thats true, and it shouts that they "Need Customers, and will go to desperate measures to get them"
How powerful is the free laptop, anyway?

Can you move?
I am interested in this offer but I have a problem. I am highly likely to move in the next two years. Will the contract move with me and what are the reconnection charges (with or without broadband)?

I've looked around the internet and not found the answer from Orange or Martin Lewis's site.

The laptop really should be upgraded if you go for this offer - it doesn't have Windows Vista. If I take this offer I'll be going for the £20 upgrade.

If you are a fairly small time user like me then the free (or deeply discounted) laptop does seem to make this worth it. However Orange have a terrible reputation for service.

This offer is no longer open.

I went to the PC World page ( Get a free laptop from PC World when you sign up to Orange Broadband. ) and they have confirmed that "We're Sorry. This deal has now ended."

The moral is, I suppose, that you need to move a bit faster than I did.

I bumped into a friend on the train yesterday who managed to sign on to the Orange deal. He is very happy with it, although I will be interested to know what he feels in three months.
