Anybody still using wired routers?
The trend is to go wireless these days. And I think a lot of manufacturers had long stopped producing wired routers. How many of you still use wire routers and aren't thinking of upgrading?

Wireless isn't the trend its the enabler. Now people can get easy wireless connections the trend is to buy laptops instead of desktops.

Manufactures will never stop producing wired routers as the bandwidth of Wireless will be significantly behind wired for sometime to come.

I push so much data around my network Wireless just isn't able to cope, even 802.11N standard. Also from a security point of view its always best to minimise the use of wireless IE hardwire if you can.

yes, i think the ongoing trend of going wireless is simply a great idea but i personally think that the wireless p[roducts are very costly and their cost are just touching the sky......

As with any techology give it a few years and you will notice a very big difference in price as well as security and other factors. I am sure that at some point in time they will have security features for wireless. But for now if you have a firewall you are ok.

Anyhow back to the wired router vs wireless router. The manufacturers will always make the dual simply because they can, and not everyone will want the wireless.

I use wire still although I have the potential to use it for wireless. I just find the capacity to be so much higher when using a wire.

I use wired router becuse the rays produced by wireless routers are not good for anybody's health and specially if you have a small baby in your home.

I find wired networks much more reliable as I don't wimax. I have a wireless router with lan port and connect my PC through LAN and laptop through wifi.

If you have a wired router its nothing to be ashamed of.If your connection is fairly fast and your happy as you are then stay like you are basically.Wireless products are very expensive but they have lots of benefits over standard wired routers.
